Visitor Visa
Canada is widely known for its breathtaking natural beauty. With vast forests, countless waterfalls, stunning lakes, and remarkable wildlife, it has become one of the most attractive destinations for travelers around the world.
Beyond tourism, many people also visit Canada to see family and friends, or to attend business meetings, conferences, and special events. However, to enter Canada for these purposes, you must first obtain a Canadian visitor visa.
A Canadian visitor visa is generally issued in three categories: single-entry visa, multiple-entry visa, and transit visa.
One important point to keep in mind is that, in most cases, each entry allows you to stay in Canada for up to six months. However, the border officer may decide to grant a shorter stay upon your arrival. In that case, the departure date will be clearly stamped in your passport, and you must leave Canada by that date.
If you wish to stay longer than your permitted period, you must apply to extend your stay at least thirty days before your current status expires.
Types of Canadian Visitor Visas
Single-Entry Visa
This visa allows you to enter Canada only one time. Once you leave Canada, you will need a new visa to re-enter, except in specific cases of travel to the United States or St. Pierre and Miquelon under certain conditions.
Multiple-Entry Visa
This is the most common type of visitor visa. It allows you to enter and leave Canada multiple times during the validity period of the visa. Each stay is usually allowed for up to six months per entry, unless otherwise determined by the border officer.
Transit Visa
This visa is required if you are passing through Canada on your way to another country and your layover is short. It allows you to stay in Canada for up to 48 hours while in transit.
